A new born baby found in the dumpster

A baby was found in the dumpster by a Texas construction worker on Tuesday morning when he took the trash out.

"I opened a white plastic garbage bag and saw the baby," Carlos Michel, the 51-year-old grandfather who discovered the baby, told Fox affiliate KRIV. "He was cold. Maybe hours old."

The police was called and the baby was taken away and he is now in good condition at Hermann Hospital near Houston.

The Houston Chroncle reports that a 16-year-old has been identified by police as the child's mother. She was admitted to an area hospital after she confessed to abandoning the baby at the dumpster.

The Houston Chronicle notes the child will be taken into the care of the Child Protective Services.
