I had the opportunity to be at this year's new yam festival by 'ndi Igbo' in Cork Ireland. The event which was well attended by people from all walks of life in Ireland was very beautiful and sleek.
The New Yam Festival of the Igbo people is an annual event by the Igbo people held at the end of the rainy season in early August symbolizing the conclusion of a harvest season. It's usually a flamboyant celebration. The Igbo people in Cork Ireland celebrated the new yam festival this year with a lot of class and glamour.
Don't just take my word for it, see the pictures below !
